Worship Hanuman instead of Tipu Sultan , Yogi tells Congress
Even while the BJP’s electoral success in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat is being dscussed thread bare in the party high command. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent a strong indicator of things to come. In a rally at Hubbali, Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh attacked the Congress government accusing it of appeasement of minorities.
Yogi Adityanath blamed the Congress of “insulting” India’s rich tradition by showing respect to the 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan. Continuing BJP’s tirade against Tipu Sultan ,Yogi Adityanath called Karnataka “the land of Hanuman” . Yogi Adityanath said that it was unfortunate that the Congress “instead of worshipping Hanuman and Vijayanagar was worshiping Tipu Sultan.”
Yogi Adityanath’s comments evoked sharp response from several sections . Actor Prakash Raaj was quick to take to twitter and recalled how BJP chief ministers’ in the past had also celebrated Tipu Jayanthi when the party was in power in the state. It may be recalled that the BJP has been targeting Tipu Sultan , eversince Karnataka Chief Minister started celebrating Tipu Jayanti every year as a government function.
The BJP has used the Tipu Sultan issue as a move to divide the voters especially in Coorg and Mysore regions. With Yogi Adityanath blowing the bugle , looks like Tipu Sultan will become a key element of BJP’s campaign to isolate the Muslims in the state and consolidate it’s Hindu vote bank. Congress Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao responded strongly to Yogi Adityanath’s advise to people of Karnataka. “ Let Yogi go and set his house in order first, it was in his constituency that hundreds of children died in Gorakhpur. He has insulted th people of Karnataka by his comments “said Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Meanwhile, the state is seeing efforts by every political party to woo the voters. While the BJP’s Parivartna Yatra is touring in the northern districts , the Congress has two parallel rallies led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and another by G Parameshwara , KPCC president in southern districts.
