Tight Bandobast brings in incidents free New Year
The Bengaluru City Police was in full strength to ensure that the stigma that the city earned last new years’ eve did not repeat this year. As over 15000 Bengaluru City and State Policemen and women took to the streets to ensure that the city welcomes 2018 without any controversy.
The Bengaluru City Police bandobast duty surprised most as the firmness with which the city police acted against hooligans was there for everyone to see. Platoons of traffic and law order policemen descended on the Brigade Road area which had seen chaotic scenes previous year. Bengaluru City Police took to the social media in a big way to ensure that the message reached the revellers and mischief mongers alike. T Suneel Kumar, Commissioner Of Police tweeted,”Everyone has a right to celebrate New Years Eve, the women folk too.!!Misbehaving with women will not be tolerated at any cost and will be met with stringent action. Happy New Year”. Thee Bengaluru city police meant business and it did it with full responsibility.
While a few miscreants were apprehended for misbeahviour , over 1367 vehicle drivers will spend time in court rooms getting their vehicles released for drunken driving detention. The Traffic Police, crack down with barricades on main roads and closure of flyover from 10 pm onwards ensured safety of drivers and citizens
In another interesting development, DCP Abdul Ahad arranged police vehicles to drop people home,especially women and families as the city faced a shortage of cabs and autorickshaws .DCP Abdul Ahad tweeted,”As there’s shortage of cabs in Mahadevapura we are dropping women and children home in police vehicles”
The presence of CCTV cameras at key installations and flood lighting helped. In a humane gesture , the North East Division policemen had a get together with cake cutting and an early dinner before they set out for Bandobast duty for the New Years Eve.
