Record number of Women Officers pass out of AFTC

 An impressive Passing Out Parade of Permanent Commission & Short Service Commission Aeronautical Engineering Course held at the  Air Force Technical College, Jalahalli, in Bengaluru on Saturday saw 15 women officers pass out of the AFTC. The batch which has the maximum representation of women saw a  Grand Parade mark the culmination of 74 weeks of training (22 weeks training at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad and 52 weeks at Air Force Technical College) in Aeronautical Engineering, Military Leadership, Managerial Skills and Ethos of an air warrior. The course comprises of 35 officers including 15 women officers.
Air Marshal RKS Shera, Air Officer-in-charge Maintenance graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and reviewed the Passing out Parade.
The Air Marshal, in his address, greeted all the Air Warriors and Civilian staff of Air Force Technical College, retired fraternity, graduating officers & their families. The engineers of Indian Air Force play a vital role in ensuring availability of aircraft and other weapon systems in both peace and in the face of hostilities. The Reviewing officer emphasized the importance of Aerospace safety in ensuing the preservation and availability of Indian Air Force assets. He called upon the young officers to constantly upgrade their knowledge and skills due to ever changing technological environment, lead from the front, build strong teams, exhibit highest degree of professionalism and maintain impeccable integrity with unwavering commitment in the service of the nation.
 The prestigious ‘President’s Plaque’ for the Best All Round Officer was awarded to Flying Officer Rakesh Kumar Gaula and the ‘Vice President’s Sword’ for the Second Best all round officer was awarded to Flying Officer Akanksha Dadhich.
The Chief of Air Staff Medals for standing first in order of merit in Electronics and Mechanical Streams were awarded to Flying Officer Rakesh Kumar Gaula and Flying Officer Akanksha Dadhich  respectively.
On his arrival at the College, the Chief Guest was received by  Air Commodore CR Mohan, Commandant, AFTC.
