As the internal tussle in Congress refuss to die down  is all set to pose a threat to the coalition government, the Congress top brass is working over-time to control the possible damage. The Janata Dal (Secular) meanwhile wants the Congress high command to intervene quickly to defuse the crisis. Even as Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara visited former Prime Minister H D deveGowda and the chief minister H D Kumaraswamy to re-assure them about the efforts being taken to control tthe damage.

JD (S) supremo HD Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy are said to be closely tracking developments within the Congress and the BJP.

Although Kumaraswamy claimed that he his not worried over the BJP’s strategy and hinted that he has in touch counter strategy to derail BJP’s plan, sources indicate that about 5 BJP MLA’s are in touch with the Chief Minister . While the CM stayed indoors on Wednesday working out a strategy and ensuring that the crisis ends quickly so that the BJP will not take advantage of it to destabilize the government.The coalition government that completed a hundred days, wanted to take credit for waiver off farm loans, reaching out to the farming community, but could not do that as current crisis spoiled their party. Some in the party, point fingers at former CM Siddaramaiah as the crisis started after he left for foreign tour. It is being heavily speculated that the Jarkiholi mess is a creation of Siddarmaiah who wants to send a message that he still calls the shots and that the future of the JDS-Congress lies in his hands.

Sources said former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda is also keeping a close watch on the developments is likely to take the issue with Congress high command to defuse the tension to bail out the government from the present crisis. JD(S) leaders, however, are miffed with the Congress leaders in the state for failing to resolve it and allowing it to snowball into a bigger crisis.

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy told the media that it is the Congress leaders who should look into the present confusion. “We are just watching the development and I am also in touch with Jarkiholi brother,” he added.

Wednesday being a festival day, the political activity was on low key , but the coming days are likely to see an escalation in the political activity. The future of the H D Kumaraswamy , may however not be under any immediate threat , but in the midst of the pulls and pushes from all quarters , its indeed a challenging task.

While the cabinet expansion is just a couple of weeks away , many suspect that the present crisis is more to showing tough postures by the faction leaders.
