Second Vande Bharat Express in the State likely to run between Hubballi and Bengaluru by March 2023
The State is likely to get one more Vande Bharat express train service. The Ministry of Railways is planning to run the new train service between Hubballi and Bengaluru by March 2023.

At a meeting on Saturday between Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, the former directed the officials to complete the doubling work between Hubballi and Bengaluru soon to make the new train operational. At the meeting, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) was asked to complete works augmenting electrification quickly for timely commissioning of electrification and operationalisation of Vande Bharat.
Railway Minister spoke at the opening of the renovated Dharwad Railway Station. He said that its entire route would need to be electrified. The service will begin shortly after electrification is complete.

The Vande Bharat Express train project, which began in 2019 with just two trains, will soon have 75 trains.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set a target to make 75 Vande Bharat trains on the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. Keeping up with the PM’s vision, 75 Vande Bharat trains would be manufactured and rolled across the nation before 15 August 2023.

While the first Vande Bharat train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pressed into service for Varanasi from the capital, the second rake is operational between New Delhi-Katra.

The two trains have already travelled 18 lakh km. The third Vande Bharat with improved amenities is currently running in the Mumbai-Gandhinagar sector The train has the ability to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 52 seconds.
