IPL Matches at Chinnaswamy stadium, Namma Metro extends timings : BMRCL.
The Chinnaswamy stadium will be hosting IPL matches on April 2, 10, 17, 26 and May 21.The metro rail timings in Bengaluru will be extended on the days when Indian Premier League (IPL) matches are scheduled at Chinnaswamy stadium, announced the metro department. The Chinnaswamy stadium will be hosting IPL matches on April 2, 10, 17, 26 and May 21, to which the BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation) is expecting huge footfalls in the metro trains.
The train services of Baiyappanahalli – Kengeri and Nagasandra – Silk Institues will be extended till 1 am and the last train from the Majestic metro station will leave at 1.30 am. This move is expected to help those people who use the metro to travel to Chinnaswamy stadium to avoid the parking woes and peak time Bengaluru traffic.
BMRCL also announced that paper tickets will be issued on these days for those who board and deboard at MG Road and Cubbon Park metro stations, from where the Chinnaswamy stadium can be accessed. “These paper tickets are priced at ₹50/- and are valid for a single journey from Cubbon Park & MG Road metro station to any Metro Station on Baiyappanahalli – Kengeri and Nagasandra – Silk Institute sections on the day of the cricket matches from 8.00 pm onwards and till the extended hours on the following day. In addition to these paper tickets, travel by smart cards and QR tickets at normal fares are also permitted,” said BMRCL in an announcement.However, the timings of newly inaugurated KR Puram – Whitefield metro line will not be extended as it is yet to be connected with the purple line.
