Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that distribution of Cauvery water has become difficult for our state as the distress formula is not ready.

The Chief Minister was addressing the meeting of Union Ministers and All-Party Members of Parliament being held in Delhi regarding the efficient management of the difficult situation faced with regard to distribution of Cauvery water . The question of not releasing water does not arise. We have no water to spare.

We should put aside party politics and stand as one voice in the matter of protecting the State, water, land, language and culture.

Amidst these water management challenges, stakeholders like

With the increasing demand for water across various sectors, including agriculture, industry, and domestic use, effective management becomes paramount. The current allocation of 106 tmc underscores the delicate balance required to meet diverse needs while ensuring the preservation of water resources. In such a scenario, any potential water-sharing agreements or transfers to regions like Tamil Nadu must be approached with careful consideration of available resources and their impact on local communities and ecosystems.

We don’t get rain after August. Tamil Nadu receives rains after August. Ground water table is also high there. So we are in more trouble.

According to the Supreme Court order, we had to release 108.4 TMC water. But, we have left only 39.8 TMC of water. Because we have no water. So we are in a difficult situation.

The Chief Minister, therefore, requested that we should discuss the steps to be taken on the basis of scientific facts.

Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister D.K Shivakumar initially explained the situation faced by the state. Politics should take a backseat when the interest of the state is at stake. All MPs and Rajya Sabha members should stand together and present the demand on behalf of the state to the Union Ministers and in Delhi.
