The investigation into the ongoing drug racket involving Kannada film industry (Sandalwood) has divided the film industry. Mudslinging and accusations keep flying around everyday as fresh names come up every day.

The most sensational is the role of Ragini Dwivedi, a leading actress in Sandalwood  who with a battery of lawyers is seen dodging the  CCB interrogation citing health reasons. The CCB however has been relentless  after her boyfriend  was taken to custody in the same case.

On Thursday, Indrajit Lankesh a director and producer  was summoned to the CCB office for the second time for questioning. After questioning him for some time, the CCB sleuths came down and took two bags from his car. Indrajit had voluntarily offered to disclose some names to the CCB but the CCB sleuths say , no concrete evidence has been given by Indrajit Lankesh.

Another heroine Sanjana Galrani has been issued notice too. Trouble started after the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce held a meeting on Wednesday and vented its ire over Indrajit Lankesh and celebrity manager Prashanth Sambaragi, who were vocal about drug mafia in Sandalwood. However, Sambaragi went ahead to charge that the drug racket in Sandalwood had connections with Karnataka political circles as well as Bollywood.

Sambaragi said that the CBI had stumbled upon a drug peddler called Imtiyaz Khatri, who used to supply drugs to actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who committed suicide in June this year.

Earlier this week, Indrajit Lankesh had given a statement to the CCB, claiming to be participants in the drug racket. However, CCB officials said that the statement had circumstantial evidences and not concrete evidences like videos, account numbers or phone numbers.

South actor Sanjjanaa Galrani‘s assistant Rahul  was arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB) in connection with the drug racket case in Bangalore on Thursday. According to the report, Sanjjanaa came under CCB’s scanner after her assistant was held by the officials for their alleged role in supplying drugs in parties. The reports suggest that the actor is likely to get summons by CCB. However, Sanjjanaa Galrani has issued a long public statement to media for the clarification.

The statement read  as, “Hi to my dear media friends, Some media people are calling me again and again to give a statement on the current drug scandel in sandalwood , I am refraining myself from the same , It does not mean I am afraid it clearly means that I don’t want cheap publicity and don’t want to be seen as a spokesperson in any or every cheap topic , I don’t like to be harsh to my media friends but they are not giving me a choice but to cut their calls . I have done over 50 projects “

The CCB maintains that several actors and film industry professionals are likely to be summoned for questioning in the drug scandal which has shaken the film industry.
