Continuing with the eviction drive, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Paliketoday demolished the compound wall built by Sri Chaitanya School at Shantiniketan Layout near Hoodi in the Mahadevapura zone. For the past few days, the BBMP has embarked on an encroachment eviction drive along storm water drains, mainly in Mahadevapura and Yelahanka zones.

Udupi Pejawar mutt seer and Ram Janmabhoomi trust member Swami Vishwaprasanna Teertha have proposed holding of a ‘Rath Yatra’ from Rameswaram to Kashmir ahead of the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The aim of the Yatra will be to attract the citizens of the country to participate in the inauguration of Ram Mandir, he said talking to reporters at Udupi on Tuesday.

Several rivers in Karnataka are again in spate following heavy rains in their catchment areas as well as in the upstream in the neighbouring Maharashtra, officials told news agency PTI. Krishna, Bhadra, Tunga, Bhima, Ghataprabha, Malaprabha, Markandeya Hiranyakeshi and several other small rivers and rivulets are “swollen and flowing dangerously”, sources in the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre said. According to them, the affected districts are: Belagavi, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Chikkamagaluru, Uttara Kannada and Kodagu.
