Border row: Karnataka ready to present its case before Supreme Court: CM Bommai

All preparations are made to present Karnataka’s argument before the Supreme Court over the border dispute and they have a strong base in this case, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Reacting to the chief minister of Maharashtra holding a meeting and the pending border row before the apex court here on Thursday, the CM said he got information that there is a thinking of resolving this imbroglio through talks. Already, the State of Maharashtra has filed a case in the Supreme Court. The Karnataka Government has held an all party meeting on its course of argument in the Supreme Court as well as discussed with the Border Development Authority. In the wake of this, the government has taken a decision to present its case before the Supreme Court.

Bommai said an all-party meeting has been convened next week to discuss in detail the Maharashtra Government’s intentions to resolve the border row amicably through talks, and other important issues. “The border dispute is over but the Maharashtra State is raking up this row. The resolution of gram panchayat and other related issues are with us. All these will be debated in the Supreme Court”.
