Amid the karnataka Assembly elections in a major decision today , the percent given to Muslims in the OBC reservation list. The state cabinet has decided to abolish 4 percent reservation. This reservation is given to Okkaliga and Lingayat community at 100% each. The cabinet meeting has also decided to share 2 percent. This important decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai and it was announced that the Muslim community in 2B will be moved to the Economically Backward Class (EWS) quota with 10% reservation.

The percentage remaining in 2B category. 4 reservation, for Okkaliga community (2C) and Sh. 2 per cent and Lingayat community (2d) per cent. The cabinet meeting clarified that 2 percent will be allocated. Due to this decision of the state government, per cent for singles in 2C. 4 to percent 6 per cent and 2 per cent for Veerashaivas and Lingayats. 5 to percent 7% reservation will increase.
Reservation given to 2B ft Muslims has been abolished and they will be given reservation under Economically Backward Classes (EWS). CM Bommai said in a press conference held after the Cabinet meeting that there is no OBC reservation for religious minorities in 7 states.

The government has announced internal reservation for disadvantaged Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes communities and clarified that SC reservation will be divided into four groups and given according to population. CM Bommai clarified that the Cabinet has taken a decision to provide internal reservation within the Scheduled Community.

We have also decided to make a recommendation to the Center regarding the implementation of internal reservation. According to the report of Justice Nagmohandas, We have decided to increase the scheduled reservation from 15th to 17th and the reservation will be distributed according to the increased reservation he added.
