India’s defence minister Manohar Parrikar presented DRDO Awards at DRDO Head Quarters, New Delhi on 23rd Sept 2015. Twelve scientists from Bangalore city were shortlisted for the DRDO Awards for the year 2014.

Dr. VS Arunachalam, Former Secretary, DD R&D and Scientific Adviser to the defence minister was honoured with the ‘DRDO Life Time Achievement’ award while Sri P Srikumar OS & Former Director of ADE was bestowed with ‘Performance Excellence’ award.

The ‘Scientist of the Year’ award was bagged by Dr. K Seetharama Bhat from MTRDC, Dr. NNSSRK Prasad from ADA, Dr. Suresh M from ADE and Sri. L Gnana Michael Prakasam from LRDE.

NM Kaverappa , Regional Public Relations Officer, DRDO(South) and AS Manoharan, Senior Technical Officer from CAIR are the recipients of ‘Best Performance’ awards. The ‘Young Scientist’ award is won by Sri.R Ramlingam from ADE, Mallikarjun Uppar from DARE, David John from GTRE and Ravi Domala from LRDE.

Bangalore’s Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) bagged the ‘SILICON Trophy’ and the Teams led by Smt Desiraju Padma of Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics(CAIR) and JJ Jadhav, OS from Aeronautic development Agency(ADA) won the ‘Agni Award for Excellence in Self Reliance’
