HDK announces Israeli technology for Agriculture sector
A pilot project employing the Israel- based agriculture technology will be launched at the 900-acre Vishweshwaraiah Canal (V.C) Farm in Mandya on a pilot basis. The state government also will invite the experts from Israel to hold workshops and training to Karnatala farmers. Making an announcement to this regard Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said , farm technologies will get focus of his government.
The Chief Minister said that while he visited Israel on an earlier occasion, he had studied the superior technologies and practices followed by the farmers there. These technologies are adaptable in Karnataka and can benefit the farmers immensely.
In the review meeting of Horticulture department, Chief Minister said that new technologies will be introduced in horticulture department’s large farms spread across the state and this will be done in benefiting the farmers
Sugar industryThe onset of monsoon in the state has ensured that the farmers get engaged in agriculture activities following good rains in the state last week. After the standoff on the loan waiver , Karnataka government is now working overtime to ensure that they dont face any difficulties in procuring seeds or manure. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told the officers in a review meeting of Agriculture, Sericulture and Horticulture departments today to supervise operations.
This year the state has witnessed 51% excessive rainfall than the regular pre-monsoon rains. Monsoon has also arrived 3 days early to the state and good rainfall is expected in next few days throughout the state. In this time, Chief Minister told the concerned officials to ensure that farmers don’t face any hiccups in their activities and to work according to the expectations of the farmers.
The Chief Minister also instructed the state Chief Secretary to take strong action against those distributing low-quality seeds to farmers and ensure the quality of the seeds distributed to the farmers.
Chief Minister pointed out that about 1500 crore rupees due to the farmers from the Sugar factories and this will require the central government’s intervention. CM said that he has instructed the officials to needful to seek the central government’s early intervention on the matter.
Chief Secretary Ms. K. Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. D V Prasad and other senior officials of the respective departments attended the meeting.
