Health insurance scheme by Maharashtra Govt for Kannadigas in border areas

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai slammed the Cabinet decision of the Maharashtra State regarding the health insurance for the Kannadigas living on the Maharahstra-Karnataka border.

He told reporters here on Thursday that it was a grave injustice by the Government of Maharashtra to announce the health insurance scheme for the Kannada-speaking people living on the Karnataka border. During the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, both states were asked to wait for the final verdict of the Supreme Court and there must not be any provocation from anyone. The Maha Government has violated it, and the health insurance scheme order must be revoked immediately. The issue will be brought to the notice of Amit Shah.
“We can also make such announcements. Several taluk and gram panchayats of Maharashtra have adopted unanimous resolutions seeking the inclusion of their villages into Karnataka as they are not getting justice in Maharashtra. In this kind of situation, the Government of Maharashtra must behave responsibly”, Bommai said.

The CM said the KPTCL employees had demanded a revision in salary and Energy Minister V.Sunil Kumar held a detailed discussion and convinced the employees to agree to a 20 percent hike. An order to this effect will be issued today.

He said similarly, the government has decided to hike the salary of State Transport Corporation by 15 percent. Both orders will be issued today.
The CM said there have been incidents of forest fire due to the onset of summer and instructions are issued to the Forest Department officials to take preventive steps. The department has tackled this very effectively.
