Hubbali set to see ‘Vikas’ ahead of polls. PM to kickstart projects
With elections around the corner , Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to kick off his campaign in the state by launching a series of projects in Hubballi in North Karntaka on Sunday . Hubballi ,the commercial capital of the state is also an important educational hub . Keeping with his poll promise , the Prime ministeer will lay the foundation stone of the IIT in Dharward . The IIT at Dharwad will give a thrust to the region and the field of higher education in the south , as there has been a demand for such a facility for a long time
The Prime Minister will unveil the plaque through the pressing of button to mark the Laying of foundation stone of Indian Institute of Technology -Dharwad. The Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) is an autonomous premier Science and Technology Institute established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the mentorship of IIT Bombay. The Government of Karnataka and Industry Partners in Public Private Partnership mode will support the IIT- Dharwad as The institute aims at developing professional expertise and will play a key role in addressing the increasing skill challenges of the Indian IT industry. The planned IIT campus will be a modern, green, and smart IT campus with modern educational aids for the student community .
The Prime Minister will also Dedicate to the Nation , the City Gas Distribution Project at Dharwad The ambitious project which has been in pipeline from UPA tenure, is a massive project to make natural gas available to public, Government has put strong emphasis on expansion of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network coverage across the country. The CGD networks ensures the supply of cleaner fuel (PNG) to households, Industrial & commercial units
Apart from above the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the 1.5 MMT Mangalore Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) facility and the 2.5 MMT Padur Strategic Petroleum Reserve Facility of Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited by unveiling of plaque at Hubballi. The project is of strategic importance to ensure energy security,. It maybe recalled that the Government of India had decided to set up strategic crude oil storages at three locations namely, Visakhapatnam, Mangalore and Padur.
In addition to the same some Railway projects like the 18 km long Chikjajur-Mayakonda section is part of 190 km long Hubli – Chickjajur Doubling project and is located on Bengaluru – Hubballi route of South Western Railway will be started. The doubling project once completed fully will result in faster movement of trains
