“I don’t want unanimous selection. I want to fight as it will show who is powerful”: CM Bommai
“I don’t want unanimous selection. I want to fight as it will show who is powerful”, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai gave an open challenge to the Congress leaders.
Speaking at a function organised by the BJP here on Friday, he said the Congress Party is free to field anyone as its candidate who will be defeated. There is no question about it. They must come up with a new wrestling technique as there will be new techniques in the coming election.
The CM said the opposition parties have not taken out the hands which they had kept on their heads when the government decided about the hike in reservations. The BJP government done the adventure of increasing the quota for the SC/ST communities as none of the states failed to do it.
Bommai said Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah soon after his return from Delhi termed it as anti-Constitution. This shows the double standards of the Congress Party. On the one hand, they have promised to implement the Sadashiva Commission report and on the other hand, they said they would not give effect to it. Is this not the double standard? They ruled by misleading people by telling lies.
He said the Shiggaon is his self-confidence and there is no question of contesting from another constituency. In the next five years, he would do it and show developments that would take 15 years. He also has invitations from other constituencies to contest but he would contest from the Shiggaon constituency. On Thursday, they celebrated the BJP Foundation Day and on the first day itself, the party’s strength doubled. Today’s function indicates the party of coming back to power for the next five years. All those who joined the party are not outsiders but those who had worked with them on different occasions in the last 35 years. Now, all of them have united. A lot of them had worked with him to build the Janata Party. The 2008 Assembly election mood was similar to the current trend. Henceforth, there would be development of Shiggaon and Savanur by one party and efforts would be made for the overall development of taluk.
The CM said out of 60 months, 59 months would be for development and one month for politics. All those who have come here and joined the party have come voluntarily out of love and affection and not under any pressure. The saying, the world can be won through love has been made true in Shiggaon taluk. The voters of Shiggaon will identify good things and support them. They will support their self-conscience despite rumors and canards. At that time, a newspaper carried a report that it would be difficult for Bommai to win and the scribe was told to come and witness the jubilation on the day of counting. The canard is spread even now and they hatch a conspiracy in Delhi and Bengaluru on how to defeat Bommai. But he was not bothered as he has a lot of confidence in the voters of Shiggaon. “I will receive poison and give nectar to the people. I will act to my conscience despite miscampaign against me”.
