Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he had given instructions to the chief of KMF to form rules that will not affect the consumers as well as the dairy farmers.

Speaking to the media after holding discussions with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) chief, Bommai said, “I have received all the information on the rate of milk in various states. In addition, the cost incurred by KMF, reasons for raising the price, pilferage in the organization and the actions taken by the company to prevent them are being looked into. Instruction has been given to arrive at a suitable decision within two days that will not affect the consumers as well as the dairy farmer. But a sudden increase of Rs 3 per litre is not needed.”
“KMF is also a part of our government. We are giving subsidies to the dairy farmers and milk to school children. It is the duty of the government to think about the wellbeing of both consumers and farmers. Guidance has been given to KMF in this regard. The price of milk changes every now and then. Private organizations are also in the race. Instructions have been given to consider all these points and arrive at a suitable solution,” said Bommai.
