Seeking Kumaraswamy’s resignation BJP stalls proceedings

Day 2 of the Karnataka legislative assembly session , saw unruly scenes with the BJP legislators storming the well of the house repeatedly .  Seeking the resignation of  Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy , on charges that he is heading a minority government the BJP protested in the house

Speaker Ramesh Kumar’s appeals went in vain as the discussion on the Governor’s  address could not take place.  Continuing its agitation from Wednesday when BJP legislators shouted down the Governor Vajubhai Vala. The Karnataka assembly which has seen high pitched conflict and a rebellion within the Congress Party saw the rebel MLA’s missing for second day of the session

It’s the absence of the 5 MLA’s who are set to defect to the BJP which has prompted the BJP to demand Kumarswamy government’s resignation.  The Chief of the Coordination committee Siddaramaiah speaking to News Basics said,”The shouting down of the Governor Vajuhai Vala by BJP MLA’s reflects very poorly on them that they dont even want to listen to him. Kumarswamy government is safe and there is nothing to worry. ”

The rebellion in the Congress has become the fodder for the BJP leaders to try and bring down the Kumaraswamy government. Sources in the BJP suggest that even if the party doesnt come to power by dislodging Kumaraswamy, it wants to ensure that the political instability in the state warrants Central rule. This would give the BJP control over the Election machinery in the state during the crucial 2019 polls.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, who is set to present his key Budget on Friday seemed unfazed.  The presentation of the Budget had become a big point of contention between the ruling and the opposition benches. While the BJP had initially threatened that they would not let H D Kumaraswamy present the Budget for the coming year. However it looks like the budget will be presented on Friday

In the interim , the Congress party continues to face rebellion, as the 5 MLA’s continue to stay locked up in a Mumbai hotel and didnt turn up at the assembly. Despite two notices to which the rebels have not responded the Congress party is in a dilemma on what action to take against the rebels . However as the high pitched conflict continues , the state faces political uncertainty
