The Indian Army celebrates 27 October every year as the ‘Infantry Day’ as it was on this day that the Indian Army landed at Srinagar Airbase and displayed resoluteness and extraordinary courage and repelled the first attack on the Indian Soil on 27th Oct 1947 in the Kashmir valley.To commemorate 75 years of the historic, Srinagar landings during the 1947-48 War, Indian Army is organizing The Infantry Day Bike Rally 2022.

Four Regimental Centers of Indian Army to include The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre, MADRAS Regimental Centre, JAMMU AND KASHMIR Light Infantry Regimental Centre and ASSAM Regimental Centre with 10 bikers in each team are participating in the bike rally. The rally will commence from four cardinal directions of the Country and will converge at National War Memorial and Museum, New Delhi on 27 Oct 2022. Bike rally of The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre was flagged off from Ahmedabad by Maj Gen Mohit Wadhwa, GOC Golden Katar Division along the Western Route on 21 Oct 2022 and will culminate at National War Memorial and Museum, New Delhi on 27 Oct 2022. The bike rally team of The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre will visit Military Station, Mount Abu, Rashtriya Military School, Ajmer and Military Station Jaipur before arriving at New Delhi. During their journey from Ahmadabad to New Delhi, the bike rally team will be interacting with the NCC cadets, school children, Veterans & Veer Naris. At Ajmer, the team will make an endeavor to motivate the students of Rashtriya Military School with the help of a short presentation on Infantry gallant action & present them with Caps / T Shirts as Souvenirs. At Jaipur, the Rally team will interact with ESM &endeavor to compile all the issues faced by them for redressal. The Rally team will also felicitate selected War Veterans at Jaipur and will then be joined by the Bike Rally Team from The MADRAS Regimental Centre arriving from the Southern Route before commencing their final leg of the journey to New Delhi. At Delhi, the Rally team will join the other Bike Rally Teams from different Regimental Centres at the National War Memorial and Museum where ‘Flag In’ ceremony will be conducted. The ‘Flag In’ ceremony will be followed by a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony to pay homage to the martyrs.
