12 km from Nayandahalli Junction of Mysore Road to Bannerghatta Road. The proposal to name the longest Outer Ring Road after Puneeth Rajkumar has been approved. Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai will inaugurate the road, Revenue Minister R. Ashok said on Monday.
The road inauguration ceremony will be held at Padmanabhanagar. Puneeth Rajkumar, the jewel of Karnataka, is a social work enthusiast. Minister R. Puneeth’s wife Ashwini, Shivrajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar and many others will participate in this road inauguration program. Ashok said.
At a time when advertising costs crores of rupees, Puneeth Rajkumar appeared in our Nandini ad for free. Adarsh was perfect without taking a single penny. This is an example of why some people consider Puneeth as God. This is what he said then – I will do this work for free for the backbone of the farmers. He became an ambassador for Nandi’s brand for free. We are naming Puneeth’s name to Bangalore’s outer ring road because his memory should always be with us. Ashok explained.
The decision was taken by the corporation in February last year
Responding to citizens’ pleas, the BBMP decided in February last year to rename the 12 km long outer ring road from Nayandahalli Junction to Bannerghatta Road as Puneeth Rajkumar Road.
As the corporation takes a decision on renaming the extension, the matter was sent to the government for final approval.
On February 16 last year, BBMP Administrator Rakesh Singh had signed the order in this regard. Singh approved the proposal on 10 February. After Puneeth’s death, many Bangaloreans and fans of the actor requested the government to recognize and honor his philanthropic activities and name a road after him.
On December 18, the BBMP had sought public opinion and objections through an advertisement. More than 700 people supported BBMP’s proposal and members of many resident welfare organizations supported the idea. However, Indian Express reported that some members of Ambareesh’s fan club demanded that the name of the late rebel star be renamed.
After Puneeth’s name is confirmed for the Outer Ring Road, the demand of Ambarish’s fans is strong that Race Course Road should be named after him. It has been reported earlier that the fan club has also written a letter to the government in this regard. When reporters asked about this, he said, ‘Ambarish has an inseparable relationship with Racecourse Road. There has been a request that this road should be named Ambareesh. I will convey it to the Chief Minister. We will be in power in May. Let’s see then,” said Minister R. Ashok.
