Unveiling of Kempe Gowda statue on Nov. 11
Holy mud collection campaign as part of the unveiling of Kempe Gowda statue on November 11 took place in Malleswara constituency amidst boundless joy and presence of thousands of people on Sunday.
In the first leg, Minister for Horticulture Muniratna flagged off the collection at Netaji circle in Mattikere. Just after this MLA of the constituency, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, who is also the Vice- Chairperson of Kempe Gowda Heritage Area Development Authority joined the drive. The campaign passed through the 3rd and 1st main roads of the extension. Meanwhile Narayan offered worship to Statue of Basavanna.
The procession progressed through KN Extension, Subedarpalya, Dhiwanarapalya, Triveni Road before reaching Samvidana circle.
The Vehicles designated for sacred soil collection were greeted with purnakumba swagata.
Later the procession marched through Rajkumar Road, Subramanya Nagar l, CM Nagaraj Road and and Ta.Ra.Su Road at Gayathri Nagar before culminating Mahakavi Kuvempu Road. Large crowd gathered on the way offered floral petals amidst raising slogans.
In the third leg, the procession passed through the Sampige Road before culminating at Gokak Chalavali Memorial Park.
People who gatheref in large numbers, especially at temples offered the sacred soil to Minister Narayan.
The priests of several temples, devotees, women, traders and general public handed over the holy mud under the guidance of Harish Pandit, Head of Malleswara Temples Association.
