Bollywood star Rishi Kapoor loses battle to Cancer

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor battling a two-year-long battle with cancer finally lost it on Thursday. The 67-year-old actor was admitted in H N Reliance hospital, where he breathed his last today morning. His brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news. “He is no more. He has passed away,” Randhir told PTI. Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan confirmed the news on Twitter. “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”His death comes a day after after his “D-Day” co-star Irrfan Khan passed away, also of cancer.

“Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.

“He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him,” the family said in a statement.

Rishi Kapoor is survived by wife Neetu Kapoor, son Ranbir and daughter Ridhima.

The actor returned who to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year was hospitalised twice due to his health issues.

Rishi Kapoor is remembered for Superhit films such as Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony, Laila Majnu, Rafoo Chakkar , Sargam, Karz, Prem Rog, Chandni, Heena, Karz, Bol Radha Bol, Saagar and others.Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor aka Chintu, used to be quite active on social media, had’t posted anything on his Twitter account since April 2. His last message on Twitter was about how India should fight unitedly fight the coronavirus war.

“An appeal Folded hands to all brothers and sisters from all social status and faiths. Please don’t resort to violence,stone throwing or lynching. Doctors,Nurses,Medics, Policemen etc..are endangering their lives to save you. We have to win this Coronavirus war together. Please. Jai Hind!Flag of India,” he had tweeted on 2 April after the reports of violence against the medics surfaced.The 67-year-old actor was taken to H N Reliance hospital by his family on Wednesday morning.

“He is in the hospital. He is suffering from cancer and he has some breathing problem, so he has been admitted to the hospital. He is stable now,” Randhir Kapoor had informed.

Rishi Kapoor, on 2nd April, had also shared an old footage of his movie Sargam on Twitter.The actor returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year.
Rishi was also liked by his followers for his strong opinions. On 28th March, he had tweeted putting forward his views in support of the opening of liquor stores amid the coronavirus lockdown.
