Siddaramaiah too should oppose BBC documentary : CM Bommai

Siddaramaiah should also oppose the BBC documentary which distorts the truth. Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai opined that despite internal differences in the country, everyone should be united when it comes to the honor of the country.
Speaking to the media when he arrived in Mysore today to participate in the Vishnuvardhan memorial dedication ceremony and other events, CM Bommai responded to a question about opposition leader Siddaramaiah’s tweet on banning the BBC documentary.

It is a question of respect for the entire country. When history is deliberately changed and the character of the country is destroyed, people naturally react. Siddaramaiah should also oppose this documentary which Satya Triuchi has done. He said that despite political differences, everyone should be united when it comes to the honor of the country.

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, who has waved his bat for Prime Minister Modi, is upset with those who want to see India in a hundred pieces. That is why they have been criticized for being involved in such negative propaganda.

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), the national broadcaster of the United Kingdom, has produced a documentary titled ‘India: The Modi Question’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The central government has blocked the links, YouTube videos and tweets related to this documentary which has come out in two parts. The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting directed YouTube and Twitter under the IT Rules 2021, both of which complied with the order and deleted the relevant video and tweets. Opposition leaders called the move “censorship”.

In this controversial BBC documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’, the role of then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gujarat riots was shown. Senior officials from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have reviewed the documentary and said it was produced to smear Prime Minister Modi and undermine the credibility of the Supreme Court of India.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly objected to the BBC documentary, calling it a partisan piece of propaganda. The BBC documentary is biased and lacks objectivity. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that this is a conspiracy against Prime Minister Modi. This documentary affects India’s relations with other countries. The BJP leaders are saying that the Supreme Court itself has given a clean chit to Prime Minister Modi regarding the 2002 Gujarat riots, and re-examining the issue will not insult the judiciary.

Many universities in the country, including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi University, Hyderabad University, were ready to screen the documentary. But in some places this attempt has failed.
