Bengaluru: The State Election Commission has announced that by-elections will be held on February 25 for the expired, expiring and vacant Gram Panchayat seats due to various reasons. It has also announced the election schedule.
This schedule has been published by the commission for holding general elections for 127 seats of 8 gram panchayats and by-elections for 135 seats which are vacant/vacated due to various reasons in 103 gram panchayats, whose terms expire from January to April this year.
Karnataka, Under Secretary, State Election Commission said that the Election Code of Conduct will be in force from February 8 to 28 in the Gram Panchayat area where it takes place.
The election schedule is as follows
Feb. 8 (Wednesday) – Notification published
Feb. 14 (Tuesday) – Last date for submission of nomination papers
Feb. 15 (Wednesday) – Scrutiny of nomination papers
Feb. 17 (Friday) – Last date for withdrawal of nomination papers
February 25 (Saturday) – Voting (7 am to 5 pm)
Feb. 28 (Tuesday) – Result (at 8 am counting of votes at taluk centers)
