Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has announced that Rs 100 crore will be released to the Karnataka Border Areas Development Authority before March 31. CM Bommai opined that urgent development needs to be undertaken in the areas of education, industry, infrastructure and promotion of Kannada.
In this regard, CM Bommai has instructed the concerned authorities to prepare an action plan, and through this, he has proposed to give an answer to Maharashtra, which has repeatedly been demarcated, through the development of border areas.
Speaking at the state-level ‘Gadinada Chetana’ award ceremony organized by the Karnataka Border Area Development Authority, the CM said, ’25 crores have already been given to the authority. Released, he clarified that another Rs.100 crore will be allocated in the next budget.
It is the duty of the government to solve the problems of the people living in the border areas. CM Bommai also promised that we will also listen to the problems of Kannadigas living across the border. As Chief Minister, it is my duty to protect, encourage and fulfill the dreams of the people living on the border, Bommai said.
“First we should emphasize the development of Kannadigas in the border area. Kannadigas on the border are not ignored. The government is providing all the necessary infrastructure to the Kannadigas in the border areas, giving them opportunity and a bright future. Earlier, only Rs 8 to 10 crore was given to Border Area Development Authority. The CM said that grants were being given.
It is natural that differences arise when linguistic regions are created. But, it is important to forget all these differences and live amicably. Basavaraja Bommai indirectly referred to Gadis Katha of Maharashtra that we should realize this natural law of federal system.
“Whenever I visit the border areas, people talk to me with affection. In these times when people are living harmoniously along the border, it is not good for the state or the country to drag on such disputes for long. CM advised Maharashtra that everyone should understand this.
“Kannada is a rich language with a bright future. Kannada language has fetched us maximum Jnanpith awards. People’s literature is the best literature. Our literary works should be delivered to people in simple language. We don’t want dictionary literature, but simple literature that people can easily understand. If Kannada has survived and prospered, it is because of our literature’, the CM expressed his appreciation.
“Pre- and post-independence rulers of India supported the Kannada unification movement. Our literature played a very important role then. CM Bommai assured that our government will provide all assistance and grants for more works in this regard.
