CM Bommai sanctions Rs 5 crore through CSR for Hubballi Cancer Therapy & Research Centre
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said Rs 5 crore will be provided to Hubballi Cancer Therapy & Research Centre through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
Speaking after unveiling the bronze statue of Padmashree Dr. R.B.Patil and the inauguration of B.D.Khimji OPD at Karnataka Cancer Therapy & Research Centre here on Tuesday said the hospital must grow as a big cancer hospital to serve the North Karnataka region. Dr. Patil had a dream of a science laboratory providing painless treatment through ayurveda for which the people must come forward voluntarily. The government will issue an order to consider this hospital as a government-sponsored hospital at the time of recommendations from PHC Centers for the Ayushaman Card holders. Any good hospital in Hubballi will benefit 2-3 districts.
He said the incumbent BJP government is responsive, sensitive, and active. A lot of work has been done in the health sector. Since your area boy has been the chief minister, they will correct him if mistakes are committed and appreciate when good works are done. The government has chalked out several programs for senior citizens like free eye check-ups, free distribution of spectacles, free hearing aids, and free health check-ups for school children. Tenders are sanctioned for the construction of a regional center of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology & Vascular Sciences inHubballi for Rs 250 crore. The regional center of Kidwai Hospital will come up in Belagavi. Besides, one crore Ayushman Bharat Cards will be distributed. The maximum number of those cards have been distributed in Karnataka in the entire country.
He said cancer is such a disease that will push patients the physical challenges to mental stress. Their immunity power will decline once they face mental stress after being diagnosed with cancer. People with good mental power, a good lifestyle, and spiritual power can defeat cancer. “I underwent this agony when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Many people live with cancer. You need not be scared or depressed. Of late, a lot of new equipment has come and treatment methods have changed thanks to R&D. The people of North Karnataka are prone to cancer as they chew tobacco, and smoke beedi, and cigarettes. The government has given Rs 10 crore financial assistance for the new OPD”.
