Governor’s Reverent Visits: Honoring Freedom Fighters at Their Homes
In commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the historic Quit India Movement and the 77th Independence Day Mahotsav, the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, undertook a profound and heartfelt journey to honor the indomitable spirit of our nation’s freedom fighters. This momentous occasion unfolded on Wednesday as the Governor personally visited the residences of five revered freedom fighters in Bengaluru, accompanied by notable dignitaries including DC Dayananda.
The sunlit morning of Wednesday Governor paid a visit to the Sri Sai Old Age Home, where he had the honor of meeting Smt. Shankutala, a distinguished freedom fighter. During the visit, the Governor paid his respects to Smt.Shankutala for her invaluable contributions to the country’s struggle for independence. Continuing this reverential journey, the Governor proceeded to the abode of another valiant freedom fighter, S.V.T Guptha, in Nanjappa layout, Yelechenahalli. Here, the Governor bestowed a commemorative memento and offered tokens of appreciation in the form of sweets.
Further honoring the valorous contributions of our unsung heroes, the Governor visited the residence of Shri Sankaranarayan Rao, a freedom fighter residing in Banashankari 3rd stage. Expressing his sentiments, the Governor affirmed, “It is incumbent upon us to pay homage to those who fervently participated in the nation’s struggle for freedom, bestowing upon us the precious gift of liberty.”
The visitation continued as the Governor made his way to the home of Nagabhushan Rao in Malleshwaram. Here, amidst an atmosphere of deep respect, the Governor humbly conveyed, “Our noble duty encompasses not only reverence but also service to our revered freedom fighters and their families. Their selfless dedication and sacrifices remain instrumental in our appreciation of the priceless essence of freedom.”
